January 13, 2012 - Genesis 45-47
Is it interesting to you as it is to me how these stories link together. It was because of the sever famine that people went into slavery. They went into slavery because they had no money to buy food. It reminds me of society now. The longer the financial strain lasts in our country the more people are willing to do in order to survive. Some are getting desperate. The attitude of entitlement that is throughout our country does not help. We can probably feel this way in our churches and in our own lives. We have to pick and choose what we are able to do and not do depending on what finances we have. If you notice though in the scripture reading for today God blessed and provided. Do you see God blessing and providing for needs today? In your life? In the life of the church? Around the world? Is God calling you to step up with some of the blessings you have in your life to give for others? Are we hording? Are we saving for a bigger famine? What are we doing as Christians to help make sure the people all over the world are receiving the things that they need? How are we being God's love to all our neighbors in all places?
