If we look at the story of Abraham so far we see that his relationship with God has been a journey. If we look we might just see ourselves in the story. God gave Abraham many different chances to trust and have faith in God. However it took a while for Abraham to truly walk in faith. Look at when Abraham truly walked in faith, it was when God asked him to sacrafice his son Issac. Does that seem significant to you? It does to me, because it seems to me God was finding out if Abraham was truly a man of faith. God asked him to take what was most precious to him, his only son, and sacrifice it. Story sound familiar? Is that not what God did for all of us? God took what was most precious and sacrificed it so that God could be with us for all of eternity without seperation?
There is a lesson in all of this, when we trust what we prize most with God, God will provide what we need. What Abraham needed at that moment was a Ram to sacrafice instead of Issac. What are you being called to fully trust God with? Do you believe God will provide what you need, not what you want, but what you need in that situation? Sometimes what we think we need and what God provides are two different things, however when we take a step back and really look God provides in the end exactly what we need for that time and season in our life. Where are you on your journey with God? Are you at a point where God is asking if you will trust and take a leap of faith? Are you ready to leap?
